GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Performs basic (entry-level) work in the operation of heavy and light equipment. responsible for performing various tasks to aid daily operations in the field. Duties include loading and unloading tools or raw materials, assembling gates and digging or filling in pits throughout the construction process.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

  • Cleaning and preparing construction sites.

  • Loading and unloading materials and equipment.

  • Building and taking down scaffolding and temporary structures.

  • Digging trenches, compacting earth and backfilling holes.

  • Operating and tending machinery and heavy equipment.

  • Following instructions from supervisors and implementing construction plans.

  • Assisting skilled tradespeople in their duties.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

GENERAL QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

Basic knowledge in the operation and maintenance of heavy and light equipment. Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is generally preferred. Experience and education may be substituted for one another.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of operating principles and practices, maintenance, and repair of heavy and light equipment; of basic vehicle mechanics; and of applicable industry safety standards, guidelines, and specification codes. Skill in the use of heavy and light equipment, hand and power tools, equipment and mechanical devices of the trade; in reasoning to solve equipment related issues; in reading and monitoring gauges and instrumentation; and in adjusting electrical and mechanical equipment. Ability to understand and follow instructions; to operate heavy and light equipment; to analyze operating difficulties in the equipment; to prepare and maintain records, files, and reports; and to communicate effectively.

 

REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION, OR LICENSURE:

Required:

  • Ability to gain and maintain Class A CDL 

  • First Aid/CPR

Desired:

  • Class A CDL

  • OSHA 10 & 30

Travel: 100% / Compensation: $150 Per Diem, $14 - $18 hr Depending on Experience
